A House That Weaves Memories|Relocation in Itoshima

This project involves partially relocating a wooden house built in 1957 that originally stood in Wakayama, and restoring it as a weekend home in Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

To avoid wasting the high-quality timber selected by the client’s predecessor, who ran a lumber business, the primary structural elements (posts and beams), joinery, and key decorative finishes were carefully dismantled and transported. By repositioning these materials while optimizing them for the new site’s environment, the project aims to create a unique living space where the “memories of the past” inherent in the materials resonate with the landscape of Itoshima.

Structure and Scale: Single-story timber construction
Total Floor Area: 117m² (Ground floor: 117m²)
